Book: Lost Art of the Great Speech

For those looking to be exceptional public speakers, I would recommend this great book. The Lost Art of the Great Speech is a classic which first published in 1930. It contains valuable wisdom on how to write and to deliver a speech. The best idea that I got out of it while preparing for a speech last year was to know the purpose and reason why the speech was being delivered. Another great idea was to to use repetition in a speech similar to how Martin Luther King used “I have a dream” and how Winston Churchil used “We Shall Fight”. There are also great examples of speeches in the book after the end of every chapter. If you are serious about public speaking, you will definitely want to find a copy of this book at your neighborhood library.

Another book I recommend is Ivy Naistadt’s Speak Without Fear. It has definitely helped me to see some of my blocks in why I have such a hard time speaking in public.

Check out the book on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Speak-Without-Fear-Confident-Communicator/dp/0060524499/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1255698462&sr=1-1
